A man and woman were arrested Sunday after authorities said they attempted to steal from a Walmart in Wake Forest, leading authorities on a chase that ended in a crash.
Authorities received a call of an attempted larceny around 3:41 p.m. at the Walmart on South Main Street, according to Wake Forest authorities.

Authorities said they then encountered the suspects at a traffic stop and the suspects drove off “in a careless and reckless manner.”
Authorities chased the suspects until the suspects crashed on N.C. Highway 98 just west of Camp Kanata Road.
EMS took the suspects to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. No officers were injured in the chase and crash.
Phillip Wayne Brewer, 59, of Durham, and Avia Leshawn Inges, 29, of Durham, were arrested.
Brewer is charged with the following crimes:
- Felony flee/elude arrest with motor vehicle
- Misdemeanor conspiracy-larceny
- Failure to appear in court - two counts of felony probation violation out of county
Inges is charged with the following crimes:
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
- Misdemeanor larceny
- Failure to appear in court - aid & abet larceny
This is the second law enforcement chase since Saturday that ended in a crash. Late Saturday night, state troopers chased a stolen Dodge Challenger along Interstate 95 in Johnston County. The suspect and the trooper crashed, but no one was injured.
WRAL Data Trackers recently reported that chases involving law enforcement have spiked in recent years. This chase and the Johnston County chase were two of at least 43 chases involving law enforcement since the start of the year.
Brewer and Inges are scheduled to appear in court Monday at 1:30 p.m.
