Car hit by bullet on I-40 in Raleigh at Gorman Street, no one injured

An occupied car was struck by a bullet Wednesday morning on Interstate 40, according to Raleigh police.

Before 6:30 a.m., police responded to I-40 at Gorman Street. Police said the car hit by the bullet was occupied, but no one was injured.

The scene cleared by 7:30 a.m., and there was no impact to traffic.

Limited information was available.

WRAL News is working to learn the motive and if police are searching for a suspect.

Two days earlier, on Monday, a woman was found on I-40 near Cary inside an SUV with a non-life-threatening single gunshot wound to the leg, police said. She was transported to a hospital for treatment.

Police said no one was arrested, and the Cary shooting does not appear to be a road rage incident.
