At least three people have died in Durham over the course of four days in an outbreak of gun violence. Two others were shot and injured over the course of four incidents.

- On Saturday, Jacob Kennedy, 36, was found shot and killed on Brye Street.
- That night, three men were injured in a shooting near the intersection of Ridgeway Avenue and Lakeland Street.
- On Sunday, a man was shot in the 2300 block of Lednum Street. That man was expected to survive.
- Early Tuesday, another shooting was reported near the same place. Police found one man shot dead in the 2300 block of Lednum and said that another man was taken to the hospital.
- Later that same morning, another man was found shot and killed in the 1600 block of Holloway Street.
Police have not made any arrests in these cases, and they have asked the community for information to help them identify shooters and victims.
Jesus Romero, who has lived near Holloway Street, says crime has been on the rise. He and his family, including a 2-year-old nephew, are trying to get out.
"We're trying to find a house. Maybe Hillsborough, because there is safety," he said.
Jamaal Scarlett is equally frustrated about the continued violence in his neighborhood.
"Kids can't even walk to the bus stop without witnessing a dead body," he said.
"Violence has got to stop. We've got to become better people for the community. Everybody's got to come together."
