The N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences' BugFest is usually a massive day-long festival at the downtown Raleigh museum that celebrates all things bug. Last year, the event was held over several days virtually because of the pandemic, This year, many of the events will remain virtual, but the museum has added a couple of in-person events as well.

BugFest 2021, which will have a bee theme this year, takes place from Sept. 13 to Sept. 18. Virtual programming will take place from Monday, Sept. 13, to Thursday, Sept. 16.

On Saturday Sept. 18, however, the party will go live with two events taking place at Prairie Ridge Ecostation, the museum's outdoor learning lab in west Raleigh.

Here's the schedule for Saturday, Sept. 18:

  • 9 a.m. to noon, Prairie Ridge will host a Pollination Celebration with all kinds of family-friendly activities.
    • 8:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., Prairie Ridge will host a Moth Party where you'll get an up close look at all of the moths that come out at night around here.
