EDITOR'S NOTE: Charges against Louis Ray Harrison, who was an assistant principal and head football coach at Hillside High School in Durham were dismissed in November 2023. A spokeswoman for the Durham County District Attorney's Office said the investigation found "substantial contradictory evidence" to claims made against Harrison.
The assistant principal and head football coach at Hillside High School in Durham was charged with two felonies, including one for attempted rape, on Wednesday.

Charges against Louis Ray Harrison, 48, of Apex, include attempted second-degree forcible rape and felony breaking and entering with intent to terrorize or injure for offenses alleged to have taken place on March 21.
Harrison has been Hillside's head coach since 2016 and carried the same title from 2004 to 2008.
Harrison is listed on the Hillside High website as an assistant principal with close to 20 years of experience in education. The bio also says he is a native of Warren County and an Air Force veteran.
A Durham schools spokesperson said Harrison was suspended from his duties on March 22 and submitted his resignation effective June 30.
His court date is scheduled for June 26.
