Fire crews are battling a 650-acre wildfire at Crowders Mountain State Park, with the blaze now 75% contained, according to the North Carolina Forest Service.

The U.S. Forest Service and multiple agencies have been working Sunday into Monday to contain the fire, according to Crowders Mountain Fire & Rescue. Operations have created several roadside fires in the surrounding area.

Officials say the fire is largely under control, and rain overnight into Monday helped the situation. Additional firefighting personnel are helping on Monday to work within the fire line. Crowders Mountain Fire and Rescue said, at this time, there "is no anticipation of anything traveling outside the fire lines."

Authorities are urging the public to avoid the area.
