We have made it to the beautiful time of the year where there is a fall crisp in the air, and the leaves have begun to show their spectrum of colors! In many spots, mainly across the mountains, we are seeing high colors and even peak starting to show up on the map.

As of the weekend of October 21st/22nd, there is mainly low color so far around the Triangle and central North Carolina. A several-hour drive to the west, and we start seeing more vibrant color with peak in the higher elevations, including Mt. Mitchell State Park.
Not everyone is being treated to the full display just yet, however. Blowing Rock and Asheville, for instance, have yet to hit the total peak, which is likely to occur in the upcoming week.
So, if you’re able to pop over to the mountains, the next several days would be the time to take the trip! By next weekend, the peak will have come and gone for the mountains. In the Triangle area, the best colors are likely to show up in the next several weeks.
