Authorities have brought home the body of a decorated soldier from Aberdeen, who recently died in an off-duty parachuting incident.
The late Sgt. First Class Dominic Perry arrived Thursday at Raleigh-Durham International Airport. He was 38.

Family members and friends said Perry was family-oriented and a dedicated soldier who distinguishedly served his country.
Perry enlisted in the Army in 2003 and found his place as a Golden Knight. In 2019, he joined the elite U.S. Army Parachute Team. earning everyone's respect.
Jimmy Dixon is a coordinator and member of the Veteran Honor Guard, which calls upon many veterans, including the Patriot Riders of North Carolina, to honor fallen soldiers and support their families.
"[Perry] was well decorated,” Dixon said. “He jumped over 300 missions.”
Perry logged more than 3,000 free-falls as a demonstration parachutist.
Veteran Ben Currin of Mount Airy said he understands the allure of parachuting and entertaining crowds below.
"My last tour of duty was from 1984 to 1991 with the Knights Parachute Team from Fort Bragg," said U.S. Veteran and Honor Guard member Ben Currin.
Perry’s vest is covered with his military pride - and love for the friendly skies.
"We do just what we can and support the family - and that's what we're here for," Dixon said.
Thursday was for Dominic Perry's family. Flags waved to honor Perry and comfort his grieving family.
"It really upsets all the other team members, family, friends, and everyone at Fort Bragg," Currin said.
Veteran Honor Guard teams often travel throughout the state to recognize the sacrifices of fallen heroes.
