I-40 closed near US 70 overnight Monday, Tuesday

A stretch of Interstate 40 in eastern Wake County will be closed in both directions Monday and Tuesday nights, beginning at 10 p.m. and reopening at 5 a.m.

I-40 near U.S. Highway 70 will be closed so crews can do bridge work for the future N.C. Highway 540.

Westbound traffic will detour at N.C. 42 East (Exit 312A) to U.S. 70 West back to I-40 West. Eastbound traffic will exit at U.S. 70 East and follow the detour through the N.C. 540 turbine back to N.C. 540 then to I-40 East.
