Multi-car crash closes US-64 in Zebulon

A multi-car crash on U.S. Highway 64 closed the eastbound lanes near Zebulon during the back-to-school rush on Monday.

At 8:30 a.m., Sky 5 video showed tow trucks on the scene near Exit 435 for Arendell Avenue. All eastbound lanes were closed, and at least two cars were badly damaged.

The lanes had reopened by 9:30 a.m.

WRAL News was working to learn the cause of the crash and the conditions of the drivers.

Motorists should avoid the area. As a detour, drivers are asked to take Exit 435 and proceed through the intersection to re-access US-64.
