Small plane crashes in Iredell Co., FAA investigating

Authorities are investigating a plane crash on Monday in Iredell County.

According to State Highway Patrol, troopers responded to a reported airplane crash around 11:15 a.m. on Midway Road near Hallmark Road.

Troopers said a single-engine Cessna departing from Lake Norman Airpark experienced mechanical failure, resulting in an emergency landing in a wheat field.

Neither the plane’s pilot nor passenger were injured in the crash.

Troopers secured the scene and the FAA is investigating the crash.
