Moore County Man Charged with Triple Homicide Appears in Court
Demetrius Aggelis has been charged with the murder of three family members—his mother, stepfather, and niece—following a brief court appearance.
Investigators allege that Aggelis broke into his family's home before committing the murders, and he was the one to call 911, reporting the discovery of his deceased relatives. During the court session, which lasted only minutes, the presiding judge informed Aggelis that he faces the possibility of the death penalty if found guilty, with charges including three counts of first-degree murder and one count of first-degree burglary.
Aggelis displayed visible distress, putting his head in his hands, and inquired about seeking bond; however, the judge stated the severity of the charges precluded any chance of bond. In addition, Aggelis has been served with a new charge related to online identifiers, although specifics about this charge were not disclosed in court.
Evidence from flock cameras reportedly placed Aggelis' vehicle at the scene around the time of the crime.
Aggelis is scheduled to appear in court again on August 26th, as the case continues to develop.
