With spring starting on Friday, we are expecting our temperatures to spring into this weekend. If you thought conditions were looking warm here for the weekend, though, you should see the warmth (or really, heat) that folks out west will experience over the next few days. Let's dive into the pattern that's causing this heat.

Far to our west-southwest over the U.S.'s desert southwest, and upper-level high continues to strengthen. This high is expected to stay in place through the weekend, and it will even broaden and bring warmer temperatures to more of the central and eastern US.
Highs today (Thursday) will already reach the 80s across the south-central US with some spots in the desert southwest in the 90s and possibly triple digits. Denver is expected to hit 84°! Their average high is in the upper 50s.
As we move to Friday, temperatures continue to climb with more spots in the 90s and some triple digit temperatures.
With the heat continuing to build through the weekend, Extreme Heat Warnings have been issued for parts of California, Nevada, and Arizona through Saturday. Highs could reach to 110°!
We will see this warmth continue for much of the U.S. over the next week to week and a half. Those warmest temperatures will still be focused over the desert southwest.
