Some beneficial rain for some
Parts of the viewing area have had some much-needed rain in the last 24 hours. Areas that remain in the severe to extreme drought had the most rain. The Triangle had around 2-3" with some higher totals to the north.
Summer sizzle and scattered storms
It's a hot and steamy finish to the weekend. A few showers and storms remain possible into Sunday afternoon and evening. They will be fairly isolated.
The boundary will eventually lift north, but a few storms are still possible by around midday.
Humidity backs off a bit next week
Another front moves through the area late Monday, though with not much rain to show for it. Behind it, however, we'll get some drier, comfortable air!
This will set us up with a few comfortable mornings Tuesday through Thursday - especially Wednesday morning.

Ragweed might be the culprit of your sneezing
Are you sneezing a lot? Ragweed pollen is starting to climb. We should stay in the moderate to high category in the coming days despite some recent rain.
NC drought status shows little change
The latest drought report released on September 10th showed some improvement in southern counties. Recent rains allowed for some areas to escape the drought label and move to "abnormally dry". For our northern counties, it's a different story. Severe to extreme drought persists in northern counties with this latest update.
"Things are looking a little better in our southern counties," Aimee Wilmoth added. "They have had some good rain in the last week, but our northern counties really could use a good soaking," Wilmoth says.
What's active in the tropics?
We have a rare lull in tropical activity during the peak of hurricane season in the Atlantic.
The Pacific remains active with Tropical Storm Norbert and two other areas to watch.
El Niño to Super El Niño
Conditions for a Super El Niño have not been reached, yet but we could experience those conditions by the end of the year. For this to occur sea temperatures must be at least two degrees Celsius above normal for an average of three months. Currently we are at 1.5 just above that number and climbing.
