A water main break closed West Knox Street in Durham for most of the day on Friday.
City officials shut the water off just before 7:30 a.m. It was back on by 4 p.m.

West Knox Street was closed between Iredell and 9th streets, where water was flowing down the street from a sizable hole. Two sink holes formed in the road as a result of this break.
It marked the second time in the Triangle this week that a water main break has closed down streets.
On Tuesday, a water main on Cameron Street in Raleigh's Village District broke for the second time in two days. Raleigh officials said that these pipes broke because they date back to WWII.
